Pricing Breakdown

bmiMD’s pricing depends on which medication you choose and whether you pay monthly or quarterly. Quarterly billing saves roughly 20% on injectables.

The Groupon angle is where bmiMD gets interesting, and also where it gets tricky. Groupon listings show discounted starter months, sometimes 50-60% off the first month. But the fine print matters: after the promotional period, monthly pricing jumps to $380/month. That is significantly more than the standard website prices listed above, and several BBB complaints specifically reference this price jump catching patients off guard.

For comparison, Hims charges $199/month all-in for compounded semaglutide with no promotional games. Henry Meds starts at $249/month. bmiMD’s quarterly injectable price of $233/month is competitive, but only if you avoid the Groupon path and its post-promo pricing.

What I Like

Three medication options. bmiMD offers oral semaglutide, injectable semaglutide, and liraglutide. Most small telehealth platforms stick to one or two options. Having liraglutide (the active ingredient in Saxenda) as an alternative gives patients a fallback if semaglutide causes side effects they cannot tolerate. Liraglutide is a daily injection rather than weekly, and the STEP 1 trial showed semaglutide 2.4mg produced 14.9% mean weight loss over 68 weeks versus roughly 8% for liraglutide (NEJM, 2021). Semaglutide is more effective on average, but some patients respond better to liraglutide or prefer it for other reasons.

Oral semaglutide at $216/month. For patients who want to avoid injections entirely, bmiMD’s oral semaglutide at $216/month is one of the lower-priced tablet options available through telehealth. I take injectable Mounjaro myself and the weekly shots are fine for me, but I have heard from readers who stopped GLP-1 treatment specifically because they could not get comfortable with needles. An oral option at this price point removes that barrier.

24/7 care team access. bmiMD advertises round-the-clock access to their care team through a HIPAA-compliant messaging platform. This is a stronger support promise than what most mid-tier providers offer. Hims relies mostly on async messaging, and SHED operates on standard business hours. Whether bmiMD actually delivers on 24/7 responsiveness is harder to confirm given the mixed reviews (more on that below).

Groupon presence as a trust signal. Having 5,592 Groupon ratings at 4.0 out of 5 shows meaningful transaction volume. Groupon buyers tend to be price-sensitive and quick to leave negative reviews, so a 4.0 rating across that many transactions is decent. It also means bmiMD has been processing a high volume of patients, which at minimum suggests operational experience.

What Could Be Better

Post-Groupon price jump to $380/month. This is the biggest red flag. Patients who sign up through Groupon’s discounted offers see their monthly price jump to $380/month after the promotional period ends. That is $91 more per month than the standard website pricing for injectable semaglutide ($289/month). Multiple BBB complaints reference this jump, with patients saying the post-promo pricing was not clearly disclosed during signup. If you use a Groupon deal, read every line of the terms before entering your payment information.

BBB complaints about medication handling. Several BBB complaints describe receiving injectable medications shipped without ice packs. Semaglutide requires cold-chain shipping to maintain potency. Medication that arrives warm may have degraded, and you would have no way to know until it simply does not work. Other complaints describe receiving the wrong product entirely. For a medication that affects your metabolic health, this is not a minor logistics issue.

604 Trustpilot reviews with mixed sentiment. A 604-review Trustpilot profile sounds solid, but the ratings are mixed. Positive reviews praise the convenience and medication effectiveness. Negative reviews cluster around billing confusion, difficulty canceling, and the non-refundable subscription terms. The subscription terms deserve special attention: once you are billed, refunds are not available regardless of the reason. Make sure you understand the cancellation window before committing.

Liraglutide is the weaker GLP-1 option. While having liraglutide as an option is nice for variety, it is the older and less effective of the GLP-1 medications. At $249/month, it costs more than bmiMD’s own oral semaglutide ($216/month) while producing roughly half the weight loss in clinical trials. Unless your doctor has a specific reason to recommend liraglutide, semaglutide is the better value.

Who bmiMD Is Best For

bmiMD fits a narrow profile: patients who want oral semaglutide at a reasonable price ($216/month) from a provider with meaningful transaction volume. The Groupon presence and 5,592 ratings show this is not a fly-by-night operation, and the quarterly pricing on injectables ($233/month) is competitive.

It is harder to recommend if you are buying through Groupon (watch the post-promo price jump), if you prioritize clinical support and labs (try Ro instead), or if you want the cheapest injectable semaglutide (Hims at $199/month is lower). The BBB shipping complaints are also worth weighing, especially for injectable medications that require temperature control.
